About Jodean
I’m Jodean Cooper, the calligraphy artist and engraver behind Desert Plume Calligraphy. I’ve had a love affair with letters from a very early age, so calligraphy is a natural fit for me, blending my passion for art with the joy of creating meaningful, beautiful pieces that bring happiness to others.
Since 2014 I’ve been on a continual journey of learning and refining my craft. I’ve had the privilege of studying under internationally acclaimed calligraphers and Master Penmen, always pushing my artistry further. I’m a member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH), and currently serve as Secretary and Membership Chair for The Calligraphic Society of Arizona, helping to foster a community of fellow lettering enthusiasts.
For me, calligraphy is more than just letters on a page - it’s about making moments unforgettable. Whether it’s an engraved bottle, a hand-addressed envelope, or another special project, I pour my heart and soul into every stroke to make each piece as unique as the person receiving it. And while I absolutely love the process, the real magic is in how calligraphy makes others feel - seeing the joy when someone holds a personalized piece is what truly fuels my passion.
